Track & Sign Certification Feb 25-26

This service is fully booked.

Service Description

This 2-day wildlife tracking workshop and certification is based in Jeffersonville February 25-26, led by Senior Tracker Nate Harvey, who's traveling up from Brattleboro to lead the event. The track and sign certification offers an accelerated learning environment to advance your skills at recognizing and interpreting wildlife tracks and sign alongside 9 other participants, guided by one of the top trackers in the country. It's suitable for all experience levels and rewards skilled trackers with an internationally-recognized certification. We will see at least 56 individual tracking questions- honing in on a great diversity of wildlife sign- and each participant is invited to come up with their own assessment of who/what/why before we discuss as a group. This format (and that little bit of pressure to come up with your own answer) will help shine a light on your process for interpreting wildlife sign and your areas for growth, within a supportive learning environment of fellow naturalists. In taking up each question, we'll discuss why/why not for all of the possible answers until all participants are in agreement. If you've never seen the track or sign before, you can come up with any guess and then learn the details through this discussion process. Learn more about the certification at: www.trackercertification.com The registration cost is $295, but if that cost poses a barrier, the Tracker Certification nonprofit org. encourages applying for financial aid: https://trackercertification.com/financial-access/ Details: -Program runs from approx. 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday -Exact meeting location will be decided based on tracking conditions and communicated to participants by Friday afternoon, February 24 -Participants are responsible for their own lodging, meals, and all gear they need for the field -We typically don't travel huge walking distances during a certification workshop (think a couple miles at most), but we will be 100% outdoors and often on uneven terrain to access animal track and sign -Snowshoes may be required depending on snow conditions -We will likely be carpooling from a central meeting spot due to parking limitations at our field sites. This will be carefully planned to minimize shared travel time. -Please see the full terms and conditions (linked in registration form) for our cancellation policy, COVID policy and guidelines.
